My name is Geneva Cegelis Sum, and I am a freelance art director based in Los Angeles. My work spans graphic design, photography, event and production art direction, and installation design.

In 2012, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Graphic Design from Northeastern University’s CAMD (College of Arts, Media, and Design), and I have 6 years of experience working as a designer and artist. A portion of all profits from my business benefit Speak Up For The Poor, a nonprofit helping girls in poverty living in Bangladesh and Syria to receive an education. I reside in Highland Park with my husband, Wyatt.

I have done design work for clients including Disney, Energizer, NYX Professional Makeup, Spotify, Redbull, Microsoft, Lionsgate, Johnson & Johnson, Salesforce, Beachbody, United Healthcare, the City of Los Angeles, AIDS Walk New York, Justice Rising, and NPR.

My photography work focuses primarily on exploring women’s issues and the experience of being a young woman in contemporary society. My passion is creating powerful, authentic portraits of women in their home environment.

I also have a passion for creating documentary work in partnership with nonprofits to help shed light on contemporary humanitarian crises, and using photography as a tool to share stories on the behalf of people who are unable to use their own voice. My work has brought me to places as far as Bangladesh and Lebanon, where my photography has brought awareness to the issues of sex trafficking, child marriage, and the Syrian refugee crisis.

In addition, I also photograph portraiture and families, events, and street life.
