portrait session: phil woods

I always love opportunities to shoot portraits.
Bonus if it’s of a close friend and you both feel relaxed around each other, because let’s face it, having your photo taken can be awkward.
Half the battle of being a good photographer is being able to make people comfortable.

Phil Woods has been a close friend of mine for years. He is in his second year at Loyola Law School, and requested some professional photos to accompany an article he wrote, as well as for his social media presence.
In-between takes of Phil being a total goofball, we managed to create some winners (below).

Living in Southern California makes the job so much easier; it’s simply a matter of timing a shoot around the golden hour when the landscape becomes bathed in gorgeous light.

I’m hoping to do more portrait sessions, and since I’m still honing my skills, I’ll offer my services at a very reasonable rate.
